When my MB is asleep and I go to open it up. The cpu fan turns on and creats a slight buzzing / mooing sound. I want to say that it might be the firmware update. But I got that a couple months ago and it didn't seem to make that noise.....

It's a known issue with the Intel CoreDuo chips. It might be fixed in a future firmware update but it could be a hardware issue with the chip. Either way there is nothing you can do about it.
