So, I've had my macbook for almost a week and just a couple of minutes ago a little american flag poppd out on the upper right side next to the battery percentage. I've seen other macs with that before but I thought the macbooks didn't have them. I guess they do. I wonder if I did something to make it come up. What is the purpose of the small flag???

Open System Preferences and International. Make sure that "Show Input Menu in Menu Bar" is NOT checked! The flag will go away. Here is a pic of that panel.
