Need help installing apps on external HD

i have an old 3G 700 ibook and just had osx 10.3.9 put on it ...... i only have 5g left and now all applications keep quitting ..... could I run everything from an external hard drive or should I admit defeat and get a new mac?

Just get a new, larger hard drive. Before you do that, I'd try reinstalling just in case something wasn't installed right.

Well, it seems to be the right time to get a new Mac

I would try repairing permissions first, that may resolve your problem.

Also try some of the space saving tips here on the forums (do a search).

There are probably quite a few things you can get rid of to regain some space without losing anything important.

But in a pinch you can run most apps off an external drive.
