im trying to put gimp on my ibook and have downloaded the 2006 x11 update, but it says i dont need it. when i try to start gimp though it says that x11 is not on my computer.

yeah, it took me a while to figure it out. GIMP had links to the apple site, but the download link was broken/no longer existed. Just check your install CD, and search the volume for X11. I had two installers on mine (macbook) so I just installed them both. GIMP worked fine after that ;)
