iTunes: The Disc Burner is Busy

I am really new to Macs and although it is a bit worrisome starting out with a new OS, the simplicity of the Mac combined with the help you all provide has made this transition a but more manageable.

I just bought a $9.99 CD (19 tracks) from iTunes and created a playlist for those 19 songs. I popped in a CD-R and pressed burn on the bottom. Error says CD Burner is Busy. I searched these forumes and google but can't find any refernence to this.

This is not typical of the usually easy Mac system. Can anyone please offer advice? Thanks.

Never mind - I figured it out after 30 minutes. For those of you that experience the same problem - seems like Parallels takes control of the DVD burner. But, as soon as I quit Parallels, it worked fine.

I don't have Parallels, but a friend who does had this problem. Apparently you can tell Parallels to release the drive without having to shut it down completely.

VMWare also causes this problem. My error was one step further though. I had force quit VMWare because I was too lazy to suspend Windows before quiting the app.

This locked up the drive, and only a restart got it back. Just my two cents.

CD burner is busy

This is an easy fix. If you have Parallels running, then go to Devices, CD-DVD ROM1, Disconnect. And your problem will be solved.

I had the same problem. An easy fix - just go to Settings and select CD/ DVD then move the Enable CD/ DVD Drive slider to off.
