Mail Preview Pane

Is there a way to have the Mail App's preview pane to be to the left or right of the messages intead of on bottom all the time. In entourage you can specify that, and i was assuming you could just drag it somehow in mail, but no success. Has anyone seen this done or know how to do it.

Sources are blown out of the water.....just downloaded/tested the plug-in and it's officially possible to achieve what the OP is asking for.

I am the OP, I am not digging up old posts. I just recently deleted the bundles package that was discussed above. When I did Mail went back to horizontal very easily. i was pleasantly surprised. However, after restarting I have completely lost my preview pane. Does anyone know how to get the pane back?
