I have all my media stored on an external 250 gig hard drive. Is the only way to play media in front row to have it in the specific apple media folders on the internal drive, or can I somehow make my external drive like, the default for media? I dont really know how to play stuff off the drive in front row basically.

I'm not sure if it will work but you can try this.

1) Create an Alias of the folder where you have media files(Eg. Movies)
2)Copy it to the Movie folder
3)Start Front Row and see whether the new folder is listed
