Poor teacher switching

Been in the market to switch for sometime, and I bought an ibook G4 so that I could test out mac and I have decided to buy a MBP.

And being a poor teacher and not being bothered about the new 64 bit machines I have decided to go second hand and buy a second hand cheaper model.

I am going to Akihabara to have a look tomorrow and want to know if there is anything I should look out for when shopping around. Any faults or issues with either hardware or the software (updates fix this I guess). I will buy applecare too as the machines should be less than a year old.

Or does anyone know if there is a MBP for sale in the Kanto area?

Apple's refurb prices are amazing (most often cheaper then anything you'll find used on craigslist and the like) and they have the same great support and warranty.
