New Macbook SMC Firmware to help fix Random Shutdown

I just got notification by Software Update that a new SMC firmware update is available for Macbook. According to the Apple support page, this includes improvements to the monitoring software to help prevent random shutdowns. More here:

According to Apple, now you never will

Mine was in for repair 3 times with RSD. Ended up being replaced - the Genius team referred to it as "cursed" on more than one occassion

I've never had a rsd either, but according to my colleague who was at our service center recently, the technicians have piles & piles of macbooks with the issue.

I wonder how they've fixed it in software then if they were replacing logic boards previously? I hope they haven't slowed anything down...

I have a horrible feeling that they are simply ignoring the spurious signals caused by the shorting wires on the heatsink.

Good thing I got extended warranty for both of our macbooks then...
