Hi all,

I am all new to MAC, this w-e I wanted to install a printer on a friend Mac Pro Book and everything was OK for the USB connection, but when I tried to install it on IP I was not able to find the driver in the driver list.

Is there a way to take my printer ( Hp laserjet 2600n) and put it on an IP port.

Thank a million

I use bonjour to connect to the 2600n at work. As long as the printer and the mac are on the same subnet you'll be fine using bonjour.

Step 1. Assign your printer a STATIC IP.

STEP 2. You have to set up IP Printing. Basically you will have to create another printer (IP Printer) using the STATIC IP address.

use LDP to set up the printer with the IP

Also, if you are able to plug the printer into the router using ethernet, you should be able to select it in the print & fax option under system preferences. Open system prefs, click print & fax, and click the plus sign, then find your printer in the list and click add. This might be a lot easier than using IP printing, especially if you can plug the printer into the router.

Look into the 2600n documentation to see if you need to enable Bonjour aka Zero Conf. It should just show up in the default browser of the printer setup app.

Also try reinstalling the 2600n driver package.
