I'm having the same problem. People I could chat with gt the same message. We invite a chat and both get a message indicating that one or the other do not respond. Help. We are both using AIM

I can't fix your problem but i can suggest an alternatieve. Have you tried using skype for video chats?
It's free, works incredibly well but best of all alows seamless video chats between Mac and PC. Only trouble is you can't conference.

doesn't that mean that I can only vidchat with other people who have skype? pointless isn't it?

And also... If Skype can fix the problem, why can't apple!?

Yep thats right. You can conference in audio . having only one mate that uses iChat I use that with him.

I prefer to keep contact with my other mates who have PC's with Skype.

Skype for Mac is free

So in my case it's far from pointless

Well, yes, they need to have skype downloaded too, but that's hardly a hassle. It takes a few minutes to set it up and off you go. I run, skype, ichat and msn.

The others you're trying to video chat with, are they using AIM or iChat? if it's iChat to AIM, there have always been problems, but it's AIM fault, not iChat. AIM has very bad routing support so it has all sorts of problems when people are behind firewalls.

So overall if you want help, we'll need to know what IM clients are involved (not protocols), both of your network configurations (are routers involved, what type of connections) etc.

Just my opinion.

Skype is the perfect bridge to bring together the Mac and PC world when we are talking about video conferencing. The program just works! It's not like other programs where one platform gets all the attention and features while the other sits there with primitive functions.

Like I said, just my opinion ladies and gentlemen.

yellow19man is right..Skype is a good option...for PC and Mac platforms. But you shall try any pro version like Netmeeting , Webex or even better Gometnow if you are looking for support on all known platforms including Linux, Unix and Iphone as well.
