Safe Operating Temperature?

Hey guys, I searched the forums and only found information like this for laptops.. also searched apple and only found environment information not actual internal temp specifications.

My computer is running really really hot, and I want to know if it is safe to keep operating at these temperatures. I am going to turn it off and let it get some sleep tonight, but for future knowledge I would like to know. I attached a image showing exact temperatures of and stats of my computer.

I always come up with the hard problems... I am solving the problem today by buying a really really really big fan.

wow thats hot, is that at idle? I know ppc chips run hot. sorryI not of more help. What cpu monitor is that? does it work on mac pros?

That is istat.. no that is not idle, that is all 4 processors at 100% for a few hours.. Idk if it works on mac pros but it works on macbook pros.

What are you running on the system?

That seems rather hot but it's probably because your temperature sensors are off. Check what other people are saying online; I've had motherboard temperature sensors read some pretty outreageous temps in my time.

Also, when you feel the heatsinks, are they very hot?

Do the G5's get hotter? I use G5 at work but never checked temp. People are talking about MB and MBP getting so hot so just wondering since that was just one of the reasons the G5 couldn't go in a laptop.

yes g5s get alot hotter then the intel systems.. but I don't believe they should be getting this hot... i hit 201 yesterday..

you buying that box fan like i mentioned over at apple-group? lol

just for some reference to help out my friend PBG4, i have a dual processor powermac that does the same thing as his quad and it runs at 170*F

Someone may already have suggested this: my MacBook Pro runs extremely hot when I am doing any graphics intense work, and my images begin to frag as the temperature rises above 160F- and then the program crashes (and sometimes the computer does as well...).
I have a external cooling fan set under my computer- but it's still not enough- so I use a program called smcFanControl (it's a free download). You can monitor your temperature and control your own fan speed to speed up the fans if the temperature is getting too hot. (Note: speeding up the fan will of course reduce it's life span... but I'd rather replace that instead of my burned out motherboard.)
