I just found the coolest thing I never knew about on my new iMac. I was messing around with the remote and found out you can watch movie trailers right there! It was so neat, I wondered if there was any other cool little things like this that may not be all that well known to newbies on a mac?

Post them here! :dummy:

Essentially, you're just staring at a 15" (whatever) inch lightbulb. Switching all whites to blacks makes reading/surfing much easier on your eyes.

Hold down Shift and Option, while clicking the Minimize button of an open window.

You can actually hold down Shift alone, and double click the window to minimize it, or hit the minimize button.

Shift alone does it slowly, Shift+Option does it *very* slowly.

I accidently found out that my Mac talks to me. I highlighted text in iCal, right clicked, went down to Speech and it spoke that line. Cool.

The speech recognition is awesome as well...
It really "Wows" my friends that visit when I say "Get my Mail"... and my inbox opens... or I say "Close this Window".. it closes. Or my favorite... I say "Mail to Bill Smith" and mail pops up a pre-addressed email addressed to none other than Bill Smith! Just the tip of the iceberg.

Wow, I just tried the negative colors, and it's REALLY cool. Any other nifty little tricks that I can do with my Mac? :)

I have an Intel iMac G5 and when I do this nothing happens.... =(

Edit, I got it to work, I wonder why you can't use the keypad?

Anyway, this is really cool!

this is such a cool thread, all of this stuff is sick. How do you do speech recognition?

OS X has a spell check. highlight the word then right click.
