• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Greetings
I have a number of dv tapes with odd bits of dv that ultimately I wish to compile into one movie. I've been dabbling with iMovie and having tinkered with the stuff from tape number one, can I now add to that with bits from other tapes, and if so how? The answer is probably dead obvious, but I can't figure it out. Any help welcome. Cheers Mitcherooney

Yes, you can add clip from other tapes. I tend to do this for each tape. I turn on the camera in VCR mode, then start the iMovie application. I import the data, when complete I save the data, rewind the tape and then quit the application. I then turn off the camera and change the tape and start again. Doing same thing for each tape that I am working with.
