Hey, I'm about to install 512 RAM on my iBook. First of all, if anyone can give a description of how thats done, its of course, extremely appreciated. But my question is, when installed, how will i know that its up and running? will it be displayed in ABOUT THIS COMPUTER as 512 Built-In?

Sincere thanks for any info whatsoever.

Well, there should be illustrated instructions in your User Manual. You can also find instructions on Apple's site: http://www.info.apple.com/usen/cip/index.html

As for knowing the RAM is functioning, just click "About This Mac" in the Taskbar, or use System profiler. You should see 640MB of RAM.

You can also use your hardware test disc to make sure it's OK. Good luck!
