I currently have my mail app set up to check for mail every 5 or 10 minutes. It has always been like this as I have always used POP3. When I moved everything over to IMAP I now find that sometimes the auto "get new mail" doesn't find any new mail. However if I check on webmail it is there. Quiting and restarting seems to solve the issue but I'm wondering if it is something with my settings (ie should I turn off autocheck as it is an IMAP account now and should synchronise) or something with the app? Using Mail.app Version 2.1.1 (752.3)

Cheers

It could be an issue on your mail server. Check your settings on there and make sure everything is correct. Every provider is different, so it's very difficult to get into specifics here. But make sure that you have enabled the download of all mail via IMAP.
