nano charging stand

Anyone know how you are meant to use the odd little stand that comes with the nano? You can pop the charger through it and charge it, and it looks like it should attach to something but no idea what!

Can't get a pic of it I'm afraid!

it is an "an adapter" for the universal dock. if you want you can buy a nano dock which is much better shipment, but some people like the universal ones.

1st and 2nd Gen Docks

So if I buy a Dock made for the 1st or second Gen iPod Nanos will they work for my 3rd Gen nano or will I have to buy a universal dock and use the adapter or will I need the adapter for the nano docks anyway?
