iMac DV G3 Dark Screen

iMac DV G3 400 MHz OS X10.3

Our iMac screen is running dark. I have brightness and contract set at 100% and it still is hard to view, especially during the day. It takes about 60 secs for the screen to become bright enough to view when it comes out of sleep. Videos play even darker.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the tube is knackered.

It very well could be that the internal monitor is on itw last leg. If you can, try connecting an external monitor in the port on the back and see if that display is brighter. If it is, that would more or less confrim that the problem is the internal one.
