External HD for Mac Mini

As in, would any old external work (I get the impression that most are designed for PC) or should I be looking at something specific?

Also, do people who have mini's feel that the lack of a dedicated graphics card has hurt their performance?

Any external should work, just format it for the Mac. I like Lacie, that's all I use.

A while ago i wanted an external drive for my mac, so i bought a cheap firewire external bay as i already had a hard drive lying around from my PC days. It worked without any problems on my G5 and my Mini.
