I am fairly inexperienced and need some help with a few functions

I wonder if anyone can tell me how to do certain things that I suspect are fairly basic. I have had my Mac for two and a half years and still haven't figured out how to save pictures from a website into iPhoto.

click and drag the picture off the site from the browser into a folder, then drag it into iphoto.
