The issue I posted the other day ( http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42601 ) is getting me a bit worried and I'm taking advantage of the warranty, so I have called Apple and am getting it sorted out.

They're giving me a brand new iMac, replacing this 4 day old one!

I told them I can't go without a computer as it's my final year of Uni and need to be on the machine pretty much all the time - so they're giving me a 5 day period where I will have both machines so I can transfer all my stuff over!

Not bad by Apple I think that...

It's great to hear the happy endings too! I'm currently trying to get a replacement for my 11mth old iMac G5 after 1 LogicBoard and 2 LCD's and now the USB ports aren't powering my eyeTV Stick anymore.... This all happened over a 4mth period.

All up my iMac's been at the AppleStore for repair a total of 5 and a half weeks, which equals bad news for me as I use the Mac 24/365.

Hook the 2 up via a firewire cable and use the migration assistant (apps->utilities) to transfer all your data over.

It'll actually ask you if you want to do this the first time you boot up and set up your user account.

I've done this already so
plug in a firewire cable from the old computer to the new computer.
leave the old computer off.
power on the new mac and start the intro stuff.
it will ask you if you need to transfer data from another mac
select transfer data from another mac
then it will tell you to plug the firewire cable in
then power up your old mac and hold the letter T down on the keyboard
This will transfer all your data from the old mac to the new one without changing anything from your old mac.
all your files and folders will be the same as well as your desktop items and any programs that you installed.

Hope this helps

I presume that the above method only works with a wired keyboard and not a Bluetooth version ?

No, it should still work. I've done it this way many times before.
