If you were to use Limewire or a similar program on a mac, can you still get viruses like on a pc?

No, there are no Mac viruses. Please do a search on viruses here or look at the sticky in the Switcher forum for more information.

Schweb is correct.

The only Virus's you would get are Windows Virus's. They will not hurt your Mac in any way under OSX, but if you give the files to someone with a Windows PC, then they could be hurt, but they will not affect OSX in anyway.

i was wondering, if you catch a windows virus how would you know? Is there a program to find them and destroy them?

Any Mac anti-virus program will take care of Windows viruses.

if there are no virus for mac, why companys develope antivirus software for macosx ??

For the peace of mind of switchers......they worry sometimes and have created a demand, IMHO....

If Mac's are networked with PCs Macs can spread the virus and eventually there will be Mac viruses. It's always better to be prepared if you ask me.
