This is probably a silly question (please make allowances!) but is it possible to re-format a non-mac PC and install Mac OSX? Will it run as a mac?

The reason for asking is to create a 'spare' machine for emergencies/disaster recovery.

Short answer: No

Long answer: Possibly, but it's against the OS X EULA.

There are no silly questions, just silly answers.

As far as your question goes the answer is no. You can however, reformat your PC and install Linux, but that's not what you really want to hear is it.

Yes you can install OSX on to a non-Mac system. This has been tried before a lot of times and I still know people dual-booting to a OSX and Windows. I'll post a link on how to do it once I spoke to my friends...

I don't think you will. :black:
It is illegal to do so and there is no talk of illegal activity on this forum.
