I have a G4 Sawtooth 400mhz, etc... I know that the max hdd size it can handle is 128gb.. I have a 160gb drive in it as an aux storage.. if I partitioned it into two equal partitions, would my Mac then recognize the entire size of the hdd? like, 2x~80gb vs 1x128gb?

No, I am pretty sure all that will show up is 128GB. You can get a PCI IDE card and then use any new HDD at Full Capacity.

No, it wont work that way. Normally when you start the system it will look for the HD details such as its size. If it is more than the specified limit, you will be limited to use only 128GB. However you can use 3rd party a IDE PCI card to let it recognise to full size. Read this article has more info.
