• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

Hey guys. First post. Last night I purchased a 20" intel mac with 2gb ram and the best video card. I was wondering, since the computer doesn't have any A/V ( red, white, yellow) inputs for analog ( not digital) cameras, is there a special cord that plugs into USB that will allow me to use this? Again, my Camera has no usb port. Only an A/v one. Thanks.

Hey, I actually do this on the side to make some extra Cash. I take peoples VHS tapes or 8mm tapes and convert it to a digital signal then burn it on a DVD for them.

What you need is an analog to digital converter, The ADVC110 is a good one from canopus check it out here You can get used ones on ebay for a bit cheaper. The other option is a Digital video camera with analog to digital pass-through. the new Canon Elura has this feature.

Is there any cord that does this? Or do I have to buy a big ol' expensive thing like those?

no cord, a cord would take digial information and cary it to the computer where the computer can understand. The computer would have no idea what to do if it was given analog information, you need a pass through device.

Oh, because, for PC, there was this cord called "Dazzle". I'm not sure if it's compatible with macs or not.
