MS Word docs not opening...

Often when I email MS Word docs to (presumably) PC users, the recipients can't open them. Though I now have been sending the docs as RTFs, I would certainly like to know if this is something that can be fixed.

I am running version 11.2 of MS Word (Office 2004) on an Imac: 2.1 Ghz G5.
Note that all software is updated on my G5 and MS Office.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you attach the file select the window friendly check box and see what happens.
