Many Questions about Extra Monitors

Ok, first off I wanna say I spent a solid few minutes with the search funtion, and I still have a lot of questions, so please bear with me. Any help is appreciated. Here's my situation.

Around xmas I am going to invest in a new macbook pro. I will be using it for the following.

- poker (I am a serious player so this is very important)
- video editing, other media stuff with programs like photoshop, reason 3.0, etc etc.
- the other basics, internet, word processing etc, poker and media are the demaning projects I will be using it for

So ideally, I would be able to have 3 screens total (the 15'' or 17'' laptop screen + 2 extra monitors, probably 23" each) I want the screens to act as more space, not to mirror each other.

Is this set-up possible? If not, will it be by xmas time? I am willing to do a decent amount of work (i.e. buy necessary adapters and etc.) to make this happen. again, any help is appreciated.

also, if anybody can reccommend some good extra monitors (cheap but high screen resolution is all I really care about) that would also be great.

No, it isn't. The notebooks can support an external display that will allow you to span the desktop, but only one extra display.

There is a company offering multiple monitor support via an add-on component, Digital Tigers, the unit is here:

It works with up to 4 monitors for Windows, and 2 for Mac. I have not tried it myself, but it's worth a look. Hope this is helpful!

But with Leopard offering Spaces soon--I would just be patient and wait for that feature. That link may be what you are looking for though.

Thats what I was afraid of. O well. I guess I will have to live with 2 monitors, maybe in the future I can do 3. Can anybody suggest a good dual monitor? here are the ones I have looked at.

But I am open to suggestions. Also, if I get one of these, how will it connect to my current PowerBook G4??? Do I need some sort of adapter or special cord?

You should have received a DVI to Analog converter that came with your PowerBook. This will allow you to connect the monitor via analog if it does not connect via DVI.

Thank you for the post youthpastor, but what is this about Leopard (thats the next OS right?) offering Spaces, can you elaborate? What I think you mean is that the next wave of Mac laptops will be able to support 3 monitors?
