Anandtech posted another article on the Mac Pro; this time they take it all apart and upgrade the CPUs and memory. This is certainly an interesting read because they do go into a lot of detail about using retail FB-DIMM memory and how FB-DIMM works, etc. They also show you step-by-step how to upgrade/replace the CPUs and most importantly, they try a quad-core Intel Xeon engineering sample in the Mac Pro and OSX DOES recognize all 8 cores...

Also, here is a little performance preview from Tom's Hardware Guide on the LGA775 desktop quad-core Intel Core 2 Quadro chip. IMO, THG is heavily biased, but they have a decent write-up posted over there with lots of interesting information. It looks like AMD is going to have their hands full, as if they hadn't already with Core 2... Enjoy... And remember; quad-core is coming to a Mac Pro near you!
