installing office 2001 on macbook

Ok, i am fairly new to mac, and just purchased a copy of office 2001(2004 hasnt arrived at school yet, and there is a huge waiting list). I cant wait for 2004 to come in, so i installed 2001, and upon opening it, it says you cannot open this application because it is not supported in this system. Does that mean it wont work with tiger, or because its an intel mac? or am i just doing something wrong. Sorry if these questions seem dumb, but im still learning. Thanks for the help

Sounds like it isn't Intel-ready.

I guess Rosetta doesn't work for that.

Is it the For Mac version? It would work on Tiger so it is an Intel thing.

Can't be Intel. I have Office X which is 2001. Are you sure yours is an OS X version ?

My guess is he is working with the OS 8-9 version.
