Personally I prefer Crumpler bags.
I use the Base Toucher Backpack, loads of room in them for your other stuff as well. They make some great bags in others styles.
They also beat every other bag in the MacWorld bag test last month!
You can find the test on iTunes as a podcast

Hope this helps

Which would offer the best protection?

Common sense. :black:

Seriously, any bag will do. What offers the most protection is how you handle it. I have used the same bag for my notebooks for the past 7 years now. I have purchased new notebooks, but kept the same $10 bag I got at Wal-Mart or Target. Its been so long I don't even remember where I got it, but it has held every notebook I have had for the last 7 years. Didn't matter if it was a G3 iBook, G4 iBook, G3 PowerBook or my current G4 PowerBook.

I got a Swiss backpack which works fine. Has enough room and is comfortable enough to carry books to go to the library, travel etc.
