Can you take out the Core duo and replace with the Core 2 duo in the intel imacs?

Can you take out the Core duo and replace with the Core 2 duo in the intel imacs?

I hope you can do this.


If you can.. does anybody know how?

although, the imacs did not come with a soldered down processor, that implies at tleast some upgradeability.

Not necessarily. It just means that the processor isn't soldered in.

I did not read the link.. but i hear all you need to do to change it is get a software update for the new chip.

yes i hear also that all is required is a software update. Keep in mind replacing a new core duo imac with core 2 duo will void your warrany! is it worth it?

It should be possible to put a Core 2 in the Core Duo/Solo Macs though. The Merom and the Yonah are both Socket M.
