So yes there are new options (Microsoft Office, NeoOffice, Open Office), and of the 3 I've tried 2 (Office+Oo), Office isn't universal supported so runs REALLY slow, Oo is always slow loading...

So what's a fast loading Intel-based Word processing program that can open up Word documents ? :)

Good question, I would say try Neooffice. You've tried the other two, why not make a full comparison and let us know how it goes? :)

Abiword? www.abisource.com - Abiword is an excellent open source word processor that will read and write MS-Word format, along with its own, much more compact, native format. One of Abiword's attributes is that it is designed for small size and high speed. In the spreadsheet arena, try out gnumeric, its spreadsheet cousin. Also very small, very fast, and MS-Office compatible.
