Hi guys,

Going to switch and buy an imac 24 as its the nuts. Was thinking of not purchasing apple care until the 1 year warranty is nearly up. Is this wise? Correct me if i am wrong, but the applecare is three years right? So would i be covered for 4 years in total?

Regards

No: You have 1 year warranty standard (so you can buy applecare any time during the 1st year), but Applecare only covers you for a total of 3 years, including your standard first year.

So applecare gives you a total of 3 years warranty from the date you purchased your mac.

Just don't skimp on AppleCare...Trust me. At times things go wrong no matter how good of machine you have. Macs are still built people and nobody is perfect, mistakes can be made and AppleCare can save you A LOT of money. If you live close to an Apple store and you have some extra dough to drop on ProCare I would definately go for it.

As a matter if fact I'll be using Applecare today when I take my Macbook to the Apple store. I've got some bad RAM in it that keeps giving me kernel panics.
