I remember when I first was exposed to Macs about a 2 years ago, my friend had Panther, and he was able to switch users without logging out. He had some effect where the screen turned into a cube and rotated to another side and another user. Does anyone know what I am referring to, and how I can do this? Thanks.

Your friend was using "fast user switching" To enable it, go into system prefrences, then click accounts. When the preference opens up click on login options (if that button is grayed out then click the little lock in the lower left hand corner) then put a check in "Enable fast user switching" and you name will appear in the menu bar, click on it and select another name, if there are no other names, select "login window" and it will do the same thing
