I've been a a thunderbird user, but now that I've switch to mac I want to see what the best email client would be. looks like mail could be useful with the sync ableness, but i've loved how thunderbird handled junk mail so well for me. What do you guys recommend and why?

I like and use Mail in OSX, but if you are used to and like Thunderbird, keep using it. It's an excellent email client. The Junk mail filtering is very good like you said. On the PC that is all I use. Thunderbird is a great email program.

Mail for OS X gets my vote.. Been using it since I've owned a mac from back in the days of 10.2. I like the "rules" you can setup in Mail, great for blocking spam.

I used to use TBird when I used to use Windows, great application.

I'm also a big fan of Mail. Of course Thunderbird is crossplatform as the others have pointed out.

However I'd recommend giving Mail a try because it integrates so well with all your other OS X apps like Address Book, iCal, Safari, and iChat.

Are you talking about Gmail's web-based portal? I use Gmail as well in my Mail setup and have no problems with it, no matter where I am.
