Yeah, I'd concur with dtravis, Cyberduck is your best bet for free. If you don't mind paying a little bit, I'd highly recommend Transmit which is what I use.

For simple use, we should not forget the humble command line. Start up Terminal and type "ftp". Simple, powerful and very effective. Frankly it is the ftp client I use most of the time, and I have Cyberduck (and CaptainFTP). I admit Cyberduck is a pretty good client, but Terminal's ftp command is excellent as well. If you have any unix or Linux background, you will feel right at home.
