Adding DVD drive?

Hi all, new guy here...

I want to add an internal DVD drive to my 733 1.2 Quicksilver G4 by swapping out the CD drive. Is the Pioneer DVR-111D a good choice? I see them online "bare, drive only" for $40 or so. Is this a good unit? By "bare" they say no software, what software do I need and how to obtain? Any things I need to be careful of on install? Thanks!

I just ordered the Pioneer DVD-111D from OWC--had good install/reviews from the xlr8yourmac.com link. I read on a few places there are firmware updates for the drive such as 1.9 and 1.23 (newest). How can I, or can I at all, get these with my mac? I have a Win98 machine on my network too, if that helps. Thanks.

Best bet would be to check on Pioneer's site to see if you even need the update, and/or how to do it.
