Upgrading Memory on Imac

My fiancee is buying a imac shortly and wants to upgrade it to the full 2 gigs. What type of memory/brand should we look for? I have heard it's cheaper to do it on my own than have Apple do it and as well it's very easy to do.
As well, I know there are supposed to be new mac minis around the corner. Are there new imacs as well coming out soon?

In my iMac G5 (PowerPC), the memory is called DDR SDRAM. I can only hazard a guess that the Intel iMacs also have the same memory.

There are quite a few posts on this forum about purchasing memory from other sources than Apple, a quick search should do the trick. :biohazard

go search on newegg for a good price on some memory. they always have good prices and plenty of selection to choose from.

i personally went with gskill. seems to be working just great!
