my last laptop was a kaypro 2000 - aka the brick

yep it ran microsoft ver 1

anyway i'm going to be away from home this winter and need to keep up on my graphics and online blogging stuff...

so i'm thinking about a


15"
Mac Book Pro 2.16 Intel Core Duo processor
1 GB memory
120 GB HD
256MB graphics card

I'll be running photoshop CS and a bunch of other programs so i reckon the intel core duo processor is the way to go. I'm used to 1gig ram on my home asus P4. 256 ram graphics card is a must also...

i presume this model has the dvd burner onboard.


any tips or suggestions about this model would be welcome.

i've come to understand thur reading macbook threads that applecare within the first year is a good thing.

That figuration sounds great! I would just suggest that if you need additional RAM do not get it from apple. And yes, Applecare will save you're life. Especially with the Macbook Pro.

www.newegg.com

That site has very good prices on computer components all the time. I think other people have shopped at www.crucial.com (i think) for ram for their Apple laptops.

Also look at www.macsales.com

Why is it not recommended to buy RAM from apple?

Is it because of the price?

Education discount is applies to both students and faculty.

There should be a campus computer store through which you can purchase mac products.

Mine does, but their delays are retarded 4 weeks vs 1-3 days online.
