Cache question, 2 parts

I want to set my browser cache and wondered what others set theirs to; the browser's help/cache setting page says 50 to 70 MB. Isn't that a bit high?
The other thing that puzzles me is laughable, but I don't use metrics normally and the cache has to be set as KB; if I wanted 50 MB would the KB be written as 50,000 or what? I asked this question on another list but I'm still waiting for an answer.
(Back ground: emac, G4, 1 GHz, 768 MB memory, OS 10.2.4. I don't game or video.)

Thanks!

Closer than you think.
Your Mac's Specs
Performa 6116 2GBSCSI 8MB OS 7.5.3
Windows default temporary internet files is 1192mb

50,000,000(or 50mb) ÷ 1,024(or 1kb) = 48,828,125kb

or

1,024 x 50,000 = 51,200,000kb

the later example reflects actual data size which no one really uses. you'll notice a 60gb drive is really(roughly) 58,953,750mb not 61,440,000mb
