Problem with Hard Drive?

I bought my Macbook about a week and a half ago and have been thrilled with it. The one thing that I am concerned with is the status of my hard drive space. I stuck with the standard 60 gig HD, knowing that some of it would be taken up by the OS and various drivers. However, I didn't expect that quite so much of it would be gone:

Capacity: 55.57 GB
Available: 37.69 GB
Used: 17.88 GB

I have already gone through and deleted 3 GB of unneeded printer drivers; what else can I do? Is this normal? If not, what should I do? Thanks!

this is fairly normal, however if you want to check on used disk space you can use such a program as disk inventory x
