How to format?

Do you want a fresh install? Formatting the drive will result in loosing all the data in the HD. If youwant that, here is the way to do it.

Insert the installation DVD, hold down the c key and boot the MacBook. It will boot from the OS DVD. Goto the Disk Utility and format your HD from there.

That is exactly how you would do it.
To the OP... Just out of curiosity, why would you want to format it? There really shouldn't be any reason to, unless you are selling it and want to restore it to factory spec. If there is a problem with it, then 99% of the time you won't have to format and install to remedy it.
