I'm trying to install xubuntu on my old performa 5200 CD that is currently running OS 8. It meets all of the system requirements for the OS, yet when i hold down C during start up, OS 8 boots, not xubuntu. Am I doing something wrong?

After some digging I found out I needed to install BootX, and following the instructions it loads the "initvm.img" which will then recognize the CD and install. You'll still need to keep OS8 on there (I had OS9, should still work in 8) so as OS8 boots up, BootX will come up and prompt you for Linux or MacOS. I ran YellowDog 3.0 on a PowerMac 6200/120, granted it wasn't all that fast but it ran.

Good luck!
