static when reading cds

When I listen to cds on my iBook, the songs are very staticky. It's not the cds (they work fine on my desktop), and it's not my speakers (other songs sound fine). Anyone know what's wrong/how to fix this? Thanks.

It's a long shot, but do you have error correction enabled in the Importing dialog? that might cause stuttering or other noise issues?
