i want to buy more RAM for my pb

hi all

i want to upgrade my RAM from the 512 to 1gb
i have the 15" powerbook from 2004
can one of the slots be left empty
or does the memory have to be split evenly
can i, for example, be running 1gb in one slot and 256 in the other

and also

can you give me any url's of mac discount online stores in the states?

You should be able to run 1 gig in one slot and 256 in the other without a problem.

When buying the new ram make sure you buy it from a quality company like Kingston or Crucial.

what's the difference between SODIMM and DDR SDRAM

because i found a supposedly compatible memory but this confuses me...

Short for Small Outline DIMM, a small version of a DIMM used commonly in notebook computers. Whereas a full-size DIMM has 168 pins and supports 64-bit transfers, a SO DIMM has only 72 pins, which supports only 32-bit transfers, or 144 pins, which supports a full 64-bit transfer

you need DDR ram that comes in SoDimm Size

All you have to do is click on the "compatibility" tab on that page. If your computer shows up in this list then it will work.

Nothing to be confused about. That is the RAM that you need... its right there in black and white.
If you buy that then you are good to go.
