They win me over... again...

I tried to turn on my iMac G5 this morning and it wouldn't come up. It just made a little squeek sound and then would die. After troubling shooting all the usual suspects I figured the power supply at the very least was completely shot and possibly the logic board as well. I took it into my local Apple store fearing the worst... Everybody knows that a logic board transplant is not a cheap proposition... And I am 3 months past the 1 year warranty. (no applecare.... stupid... stupid....stupid)

They took in the back and analyzed it... just as suspected both the PS and the mobo are fried. $967 including labor... But the genius bar guy was absolutely awesome about it. He went ahead and pushed it through as if it was under warranty because "this is something that should not have gone wrong and you really shouldn't have to pay for it."

New mobo and PS including labor absolutely free! Woohoo! I pick it up tomorrow. Thanks again Apple!

I have never been dissapointed at an Apple store. There are always employees available to help you but never on top of you pushing you to buy something.

Man I love apple... sure the machines are a bit more expensive than base-priced PCs, but they're much better on the inside (both literally and figuratively...) and you really get a bang for your buck.

I need to hurry up and buy Applecare. Mine is over in September I think. I am having tons of problems with my iMac too. Hehe.

I bought AppleCare, though I don't think I'll ever need it. If my logic board blows in four years when AppleCare is done, I'll get a laptop.

I buy apple care when ever I buy a new mac. It is just a good think to have, and when your spending 7-8 thousand dollars on a tower and 1200 per screen you hook up to it.. why not spend 300 for peice of mind that if something were to happen you could get it fixed with out spending alot of money on it again.

This is great to hear. I have to say, I am new to Mac's, but the customer service so far has been outstanding. I also purchased the applecare, hopefully to not use it.
