garage band new track problem

When I try to create a new Intrument track nothing happens, it works for software instrument though. and new basic track works but doesnt let me add preset effects into it.

and when i play back all other previously recorded songs it's all fine I just can't and new real instrument tracks.

help!

How many tracks do you have? Because sometimes there's a limit to how many tracks you can have in one project. The way to change this is in GarageBand>Preferences, and it's in one of the tabs, I don't remember off hand, just look around and you'll see it.

None, but I reinstalled OSX completely and everything is fine now
