Hi,I have a third generation clickwheel ipod which has suddenly started to not update when i plug it into the computer. I have reset it, downloaded the latest updater program from apple and tried to reformat it, but as the computer is not recognising it it wont reformat. It must be a problem with the ipod because I have plugged my other one in and it works fine. any ideas?

Did you try plugging it into another USB Port? This method seems to work for some people who had the same problem.

I had the same issue with my 3G iPod when it was connected to the firewire port. I plugged it into the USB port and it works well now.

USB is the answer, before I had my current iPod i had the same problem you and studio34 had
