Change your settings in iTunes to what you want it to be.
Then just go to Export to iTunes.

I just checked out GB, Try the File menu and Save As. Then you click Compact Project and you can change it from 64, 128 or 320K AAC. If you want MP3 then use Itunes and convert it to MP3. Only way I can see without using other programs to get what you want.

What you need to do is go into itunes prefrences and change import to mp3. Then go into garageband and hit export to itunes. Open itunes and find the file. highlight it and go to Advanced ----> convert selection to Mp3. Problem solved!

You should be able to export to iTunes, then in iTunes go to preferences>advanced>importing and select "mp3 encoder" or something to that effect. Then right click the file in iTunes and hit "Convert selection to mp3".

Send song to iTunes then convert

I just found out that if you go to Share —> Send Song to iTunes it will export to AIFF format.

Then, as you probably already know, you can convert to MP3 and fortunately iTunes allows you to set parameters.

If you are doing a Podcast, you need to hide the Podcast track; otherwise Garageband will only export as AAC. (Sort of dumb option to restrict the range of quality) As long as you hide the Podcast track, the Send Song to iTunes option becomes available in the Share menu, and it will export as AIFF format.

Hope that helps
