Can iBook 300 use PC100 instead of PC66 RAM?

Hi,

I recently saved a perfectly operational iBook 300 (G3, 300MHz, 32MB RAM) from the garbage (I kid you not). I've heard people say that these will run OSX fine once you install more RAM on them. Here's my problem:

I found a specs page that says this:

----RAM: 64 MB of SDRAM (32 MB before 2000.02.16), expandable to 576 MB (544 on 32 MB iBook) via one 1.25" 3.3V PC66 compliant SO-DIMM----

Now, PC66 is almost impossible to find, and when I do find it online, it's 256 MB max, whereas the above implies that I can go up to 512.

Does anyone know if PC100 will slow down to 66, that is, can I install PC100 RAM on an iBook 300? If not, does anyone know if PC66 can still be found anywhere?

Thanks!

Update:

info.apple.com says,

----32 MB of SDRAM; single 30 mm SO-DIMM slot (3.3 V, PC66 compliant) supports up to 256 MB for a total of 288 MB of RAM. (The computer's single memory slot can accept one 144-pin memory module. A 256 MB module can be used only if the iBook Firmware Update has been installed; otherwise, a 128 MB module is the largest that can be used.)----

Still not sure if PC66 will slow down though?

according to this page you can use the PC100 with it . There are also links for the PC66 there

According to MacTracker you can only use the PC66

I have a Graphite Clamshell 366mhz and am running it with a 512 meg card in it. I have had no problems at all. When I got the iBook it had a 128meg card in it and it had Jaguar running on it. I thought it was pretty good for speed but once I added the 512 it made a noticable difference.

I had my ram installed at a dealer in Calgary (Westworld) and what they put in is Azenram: 512MB AZ A512D65 PC133 SODIM. I gather that this is the same ram as in some of the other iBooks or PowerBooks. In any case it works fine. I have Panther coming (next few days) so will see how that goes.

ps just checked and 1 gig memory os running about 4X what 512 meg is going for
